"Hipkins and Tech tree pathologist Jay Stipes are working on developing
a fusarium fungus that they hope will control the weed tree that takes
over landscapes, burrows into house foundations, shades crops, creeps
into power lines, views and roadways and offers no food to local fauna.
Ailanthus is a non-native plant that has done like many other
introduced species - taken root and dominated landscapes to a degree
that those who brought it to North America could not have imagined.
Why there's a picture of a maple leaf or something similar (Ribes?
Viburnum opulus/trilobum/sargentii?) I'll just ignore. Ooops, too
late. :)
