Someone has offered to give me starts of what she calls a Monkey tree. I've
tried to search the Net for info on it but can't find much. Its not a Monkey
Puzzle tree. And I'm not sure if its a Royal Paulownia Tree or Empress tree.
The trees she has are short and shrubby. But, I think, this is the 3rd
summer for them. They put out runners just below the soil surface and she has
suckers all over which she is willing to "part with." The leaves are finely
textured and make me think initially of sumac. They are long and narrow and give
the appearance of being "layered." She said it turns red in the fall and is
supposed to bloom in the spring altho hers hasn't yet. And the fascinating part
is the trunk is "furry!" Yep, that's right.
So does this sound familiar to any of you?
Have you any experience with it?
Thanx for your help, Barbara.
