Re: Size of Clethra alnifolia blooms?

In my garden in the District of Columbia suburb of Beltsville, Maryland,
Clethra alnifolia has bloomed faithfully for many years, and I can't
recall ever seeing flower spikes shorter than four or five inches. It's
blooming now. We've had a long drought (ended today) of about a month,
but I haven't noticed any effect on the clethras, which seem not to have
become stressed, except for one in a pot, which I have had to water.

Sorry not to be able to help.
