RE: Chaste Tree

Hi,
I have a chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus) planted in a warm microclime in
my zone 5/6 garden. The site is on the southeastern side of the house,
close to the building, and sheltered from cold western winds. The plant
still dies back to the root zone during our normal cold winters. I just cut
out the dead wood and watch it stretch into a five or six foot shrub again.
The above ground section survived during last winter's clemency. I left
what was there, curious about what would happen. It is now about 10 feet
tall and rangy, with *really* soft wood. I like the shorter look.

Vitex negundo is supposed to be slightly more cold hardy with more of a
serrate leaf pattern.

Sorry, I can't do anything about extending absolution for your previous
posting error. ;)
