Hello Hal Humbert ,
I am growing Vitex negunde , the smaller chaste tree . Were you looking for info on this one or vitex agnus - castus ? I started it from seed in spring 1997 ( fairly easy to grow ), all five plants overwintered well without any mulching . They have been flowering for around 4 weeks now , for the first time , and are beginning to set seed. All five plants are 4 - 5 feet in height and rather sprawling . The bees ( and unfortunately a few hornets ) love this plant and are constantly buzzing around it. I live in zone # 6 SW Ontario , Canada, 65 miles west of London on a 78 acre farm . Feel free to ask me any more questions if you need to .
