Debby, I would not worry about your SA as this is a class 3 Clematis which 
means your bloom is set on new wood and may be cut back severely as I 
normally do since this is such a prolific grower.  I lost both of mine in the 
strange winter we had last year but I have hundreds of seedlings about.  This 
is a plant I would suggest not to plant near the house, walk or area 
frequently used as it attracts many, many bees but is a beauty in full bloom.
