The two elms that the usda hybridized were crosses w/ resistant elms.
These elms are ot "beetle" proof however, they are highly resistant. In
my neck of the woods all the elms have died from dutch elm but there are
many, many isolated elms in fields and woods which are unaffected due, i
assume, to their isolation.
