Needle Palm

Is anybody growing Rhapidophyllum hystrix (Needle Palm)? This is the
supposed to be the hardiest of all palms. I met somebody who has grown it
in Southern Michigan for several years. Now I am hearing that it is
growing in Wisconsin.
What kind of winter protection is required in the North to succeed with
this plant? Is sun or shade the best? Any information will be helpful.
