My H. vernalis 'Arnold Promise' is in full bloom, started about the end of
January here in East Tennessee (6B). It is a beautiful clear yellow..

And on another subject, I have a four-year-old Corylus avellana contorta
(Harry Lauder's Walking Stick). How old does it have to be before I can
expect bloom? It seems to be growing well, as long as I keep an eagle eye
out for some little species of caterpillar that tries to defoliate it in
late summer every year)
