Viburnums

Connie,

Although I do not have personal experience growing Viburnums, Michigan
State University promotes them heavily as being appropriate for our area
of the country, (Zone 4/5/6, soil tends to be alkaline/clay base) -
several are native to Michigan. The specimens I have seen are
beautiful, Korean Spice (Viburnum calesi) has a very strong scent when
in bloom.

This is a link to one of MSU's database which explains some of the
cultivars.

If you are in Michigan, the extension offers a bulletin on woody plants
that has very specific recommendations. I have never been disappointed
when I have followed it's advice.

If everyone gets this post twice, please forgive, I am trying to
determine if I send to just woodyplants, or if I need to send to
woodyplants-digest also.
