Arrowwood isn't bad for the back of a lot, I haven't noticed that the smell
carries that far. I planted mine near a back door. A lot of plants stink
when in flower and noone really notices. Just don't plant them near a
walkway or doorway like I did :-)
If they get half day sun I would think they would be fine. Nannyberry and
Blackhaw might also be good choices depending on where you are located. To
get a good fruit set you will probably want to plant either unnamed species
or more than one cultivar. You can get both Arrowwood and Nannyberry from

back of my lot at the edge of a woods. They look like the birds etc. would
