Hello Nancy and all
I am one of the European in this list, and rather new member and this is my
first mail to the list.
First to Nancy - one of the main reason you might not find so much info
about european botanical interest through internet is language - most of us
don't use english as mother language - and if you did the search in english
you might not get any hits. I suppose most of the countries make the sites
in the own language? if you have already done a lot of research I am not
sure I can help you so much more. And it depends on interest, if I was in
London: Kew Garden would be my favorite.
A bit about me:
I live in Norway - Hardangerfjord at the SW coast. We have rather mild
climate because of the Gulfstream - take a look at climate in Europe (USDA
zone system):

I joined woodplants because I was looking for some place to find info about
different woody plants I want to grow, even would like to raise them myself
from seeds if possible. And I would like to try new plants fro my area ..
in a way 'growing out of zone' plants, but winterclimet by me is zone 8 so
al ot caan grow here - must more careful it doesn't become invasive by
selfseeding!?
I have a small farm where I besides gardening grow fruit for sale, and some
plants for use in decorations, and have a lot of forrestland. So I have
'room' for a lot of trials outside the garden - and that I like a lot. I am
starting to collect seeds from all over of trees and shrubs I will like to
try - both evergreen and deciduous. If any of you have something exciting
seeds to share that would be nice.
If you want to see where I live take look at this site:
http://www.hardangerfjord.com/eng/eng.htm
Maybe not so many pictures, but ... a taste .. and in the map you'll find:
Nå - the village I live in.
Nice place to live isn't it? The whole nature by us is like an exciting
garden! From the seaweeds in the fjord to the alpine plants up in the high
mountains - so in fcat we have a lot different zones here depending of how
high above sealevel you are.
Regards
Arnhild Bleie
