I have read about Utahs eradication of the JB in an area at the cost of $500,000 a year and they used a 3 yr program.  Merit was one of the chemicals they used to save their agriculture crops. I find this very interesting since ag is a major industry in Iowa.  I assume the JB eat the field beans just as they like the green beans.  JBs fly so it would seem that it would be difficult to say you eradicated them permanently.
