Boxelder bugs make nice pets!
Actually, I've never noticed that they had an odor. Have them by the
thousands since I am cursed with a lot of Boxelder trees (Acer negundo).
As far as I have ever noticed, these bugs don't do any harm - only wish
they did as I would be delighted to lose each and every Boxelder on this
property!.
Their worst trait seems to be a tendency to want to come inside when the
weather gets cool.
