I purchased the subject tree in the fall and planted shortly after in my
perennial garden. In the spring, I had one shoot appear on the upper
most part of the main pruned trunk. I don't know all the correct
names...but the tree is a one inch caliper and was pruned at a 5 height
for shipping. At the top of the pruned area, only one branch appeared
to grow horizontally in the spring. I felt this was incorrect and was
informed to prune this back to enhance new growth upward......I did
prune it with a 2.5 stub with nodes. Well, noting appeared for two
months and they sent me a new tree. The tree is still alive and Im
seeking advise to keep it alive through the year. What should I do to
enhance leaf growth and what should I feed it?

Why buy plants when you can grow them yourself.....?
