Re: roses that can tolerate shade

Brenda,

I don't have a list but a quick look through my notes
came up with these:

>From my favorite garden write Doug Green, who lives in
Ontario:
Blanc Double de Coubert
R. Rugosa 'Belle Poitevine'
autumn damask - R. damascena bifera (no repeat bloom)
Rosa eglanteria (I also have one that only gets
afternoon sun - this is "Sweet Briar Rose")

Morden Parkland Roses-Morden Blush likes afternoon
shade

I have an Alba 'Mme Plantier' that is in partial shade
that blooms profusely (not a repeat). I am also
trying a Damask 'Rose de Rescht', it was planted last
fall but it is not blooming yet this year.

This is a start. I believe that the old fashioned
roses are the ones you should look at.
