Ceres,
I am sorry it has taken me a few days to respond, we
are selling our house and I am very behind with my
e-mail.
For the Michigan Master Gardener there is 40 hours of
classroom training and then 40 hours of volunteer work
that has to be completed within approximately 2 years
of the classroom training. The advanced level is an
additional 30 hours of course work and 50 hours of
community service within a two year time frame. The
course work can be any class offered by the extension
office. That was actually the easy part as I have
found so many interesting classes offered by the
neighboring county extension offices I have a hard
time limiting myself. I have attended everything from
Water Gardening (Helen Nash) to "Gardening with
Nature" which was about organic methods. The Oakland
County group I am in is the largest in the state which
is really a negative since it is hard to get to know
people when organizations are so big. I am moving to
another smaller county this summer, actually very near
Michigan State University, so I am hoping that this
group will be easier to get to know.
