Don, if the 2nd year's growth is heavy lenticelled then Joanie could
very well be right; Syringa pubescens ssp. patula 'Miss Kim' is about
the right height and the flowers are pale enough.
And, if I remember, you're further north which would be about the
right timing for blooms...
