This year's showstoppers


On the perennials@hort.net list we started talking about showstopper
plants in the garden.

One thing that just started blooming and looks incredible this year
is Leptodermis oblonga.  I've had it for about four years now and
flowering has always been sparse, but this year it's covered in
blooms from head to toe.

This is another one that I need to move -- when I planted it I
didn't know much about it and went by the suggested 2-3 foot
height; mine is a gangly four feet and is taller than the stuff
behind it.
