Sulfur is usually recommended. It is slow acting
and you can find out how much is needed. I would think you would need to
make a raised bed to help keep it acid. It is a great plant and worth the
effort. Mine is just leafing out and I spied some red flower buds. Nice bark and
great fall color.

Back to the acidifying issue, my research suggest elemental sulfur is most commonly used although the reduction in pH occurs over time and is not immediate. |
