Re: Tree identification


Chinquapin Oak, Swamp White Oak, or Chestnut Oak would be my guesses,
depending on soil type and what is native to the area.  For alkaline
soils, Chinquapin is the most likely.  I have grown these from acorns
for the past 3 years and the leaves are identical to what was described.
Chinquapin is replaced by Chestnut Oak the further east you go.  The
leaves are very similar in the two species.
