Abeliophyllum distichum - "White Forsythia"


I have grown two plants of the so-called  "White Forsythia", 
Abeliophyllum distichum, also known as Korean Abelia-Leaf  In the 
nearly 10 years that they have bloomed for me, I have never noticed 
seed until this year.  Is seed set unusual in this species?  The 
foliage is not particularly remarkable, but the early spring 
blossoms of white make it worthwhile.
