Stuart, I have both C. florida and kousa in Plymouth,N.H.zone 4. I've had the
florida for 20 years and it never was or is a reliable flowerer. After having it
about 8 years it would reliably set flower buds in great numbers but the flower
display depends on the severity of the winter. The last 2 winters have been mild
enough that it has bloomed heavily and this year it has its heaviest crop of
fruit so far.The kousa I've had for maybe 10 years and has set bud heavily for
the last 3-4 years but still does not reliably flower heavily each year. I've
only one year that was a knock-out.Both trees are well formed and very
attractive with fall color. I will collect some seed and send you some if you
send your address. Steve
