Hi Diane,
No, they should be self-pollinating (and are certainly not dioecious).
However, many viburnum species will produce more fruit if there are
other pollinators available. For example, Viburnum x rhytidophylloides
'Alleghany' is often grown with Viburnum lantana as a pollinator to
encourage fruit production.
They do like moist soils in full sun to part shade.
