Gail, sounds as if you've already learned quite a bit, those plants you
mentioned all being good candidates for hedging. Forestfarm is a great
resource for such things, reasonably priced and with brief, useful
descriptions. They also have a comprehensive reference list which you could
use (Dirr's Manual of Woody Landscape Plants, van Gelderen's Conifers, The
Illustrated Enc. Jacobson's North American Landscape Trees are few to get you
started). I have called them with similar decision problems and they are
really helpful, so you might want to talk to the staff there for more input.
