overflow:hidden; width:450px; height:25px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/div><p>As we looked at the different plant patents that have been granted, we started to wonder which genera are most represented.<\/p>\n<p>This was pretty easy to do with a simple database query; we get a total for the first word (genus) of all plant names that start with the letters &#8216;A&#8217; through &#8216;Z&#8217; (which eliminates <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Grex_%28horticulture%29\" title=\"grex\">greges<\/a> and the like).<\/p>\n<div class=\"horttech-code\">\n<pre class=\"preserve-code-formatting\">\nmysql&gt;
