09 June, 2002 gallery additions

Wow, where has the time gone? It seems like it was mid-May just yesterday.

Anyhow, I've finally finished scanning all of my slides from this year (no small feat, seeing as there were well over 50 36-exposure rolls so far). Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I'm headed out to the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois tomorrow to take a lot more. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!

Since I have so many different images scanned from so many different places, this week's additions reflect the diversity of the the scans. They're all from this year, but range from South Carolina to Ohio to Illinois.

I'd like to thank Theresa Schrum for her image contributions to the gallery this week (and lots of other weeks, too). Theresa volunteers for the Georgia Native Plant Society and is also a founder of Eco-Terra Landscape Consultants, a group that provides environmentally friendly landscape design. You'll see more photos from her next week, too. Thanks, Theresa!

I'd also like to ask everyone to rate the image quality when you view this week's additions. I've noticed that very few people seem to be rating the images any more, but it's an incredibly useful feature to me. It helps me figure out which images need to be replaced and also helps the computer figure out which photo should be displayed first if someone finds the page via a search engine or something (the best image is displayed first).

There's also a new (minor) feature in the gallery. You can now click on the family name of a plant and come up with a listing of all plants in a given family that are in the gallery.

On a more personal note, I'd like to apologize to those of you who have sent me emails and haven't received any replies. My life has been very hectic lately, especially my day job (as some of you may know, Mallorn is my 'night job'). Usually I see your email and save it to reply at a later date, but, well, it's obvious how well that's been working. Anyhow, I hope to go through and answer all of those messages sometime soon.

Enjoy, and happy gardening to you all!

Christopher Lindsey, gallery maintainer
