02 March, 2004 gallery additions

Yikes! I almost didn't get this week's batch out. Those two week intervals just seem to fly by!

I put together a bunch of slides from all different seasons this week. Some are of spring flowers, others are of fall color, and yet others are of fruit and foliage. I'm up to about 280 'spare' images to pick from, so the next few updates (until I make a trip somewhere to shoot more photos) will be quite varied.

This past weekend was been great for me. I think that spring is finally arriving; I spent much of my free time clearing away brush and other winter detritus. Much to my amazement I found crocuses, snowdrops, and winter aconite all blooming happily amongst the litter. Some of my plant shipments should be arriving soon as well I just can't wait to get outside and poke at the dirt some more.

I know that a few of you have sent me photos to add to the gallery, but I haven't been organized enough to get to them yet. Hopefully I'll add some next time!

Finally, also wanted to thank all of you who have contributed to the hort.net fund drive. We're not there yet, but we're making progress! For those of you who missed it, there's more information about the fund-raising process and options at

    http://www.hort.net/funds/

I've already started making changes for the better at hort.net, including plans to double our network speed (at less than we're paying now), getting a good backup plan in place, and setting up user options on the site. Hopefully you'll be able to upload your own images directly to the gallery any day now! Any donations that you send can definitely be used and will be appreciated.

Well, I'm off to bed. Ahh, to dream of longer days with the sun warming my back as I tend to my garden...
