Okey dokey, here's the list of TB survivors from my main beds. The main
beds are to the west of the house over the septic drainfield in a
relatively small area completely surrounded by tall trees and massive
lilac bushes. These beds receive only about 3-4 hrs of full, direct
sunlight a day with dappled sun the rest of the day. The planting areas
are not raised, and the soil is quite clayey but drains quickly and does
not puddle for more than a few minutes even after heavy rains. The
entire area is gently sloped, which aids drainage. The biggest problem
with this planting location is the deer traffic. The deer have compacted
the soil in the main beds into concrete, and the irises tend to suffocate
and rot as a result. Because of the compaction and minimal sunlight, the
irises in the main beds tend to increase very slowly and bloom sparsely.
For that reason, I will set my standards for successful survival a bit
lower for the irises in these beds than for those in the more favorable
rebloomer beds listed yesterday. I would expect all of these cvs to
perform admirably here under better growing conditions.

however, was definitely the star performer during bloom ... of course.
