A short history.
Howard Dill after growing and developing the Atlantic Giant seed variety several years.
He is granted a pvp 05/30/1986 on the variety.
Dill has right to license his seed for sale and prevent any one from selling seed for 18 years
without license or permission. Dill gives permission giant pumpkin groups to sell seeds to raise money for prizes. Trading for seeds or giving away seed is ok Since you are not selling them.
The pvp ends 05/30/04.
The reason people are against seed selling is because they used to growers giving a way seed for and seed sales at auctions to raise money for pumpkin contests.
Since people have not had buy seed they are afraid that the price will go up and since when some seeds where grown the grower could sell his seed . Seed that is given way free should not be sold.
Well technically seed seed trading and sharing was against the pvp. Thus depriving Dill of money.
So now that pvp has expired anyone can sell seed legally.
No matter how they acquired them auction, traded for,and there own pumpkins a person can sell seed.
If you do not like people selling seed don't buy it, else it is not you business what they do with there seeds.
