but in regards to Z.z., it's slow to root for sure. 
the other thing it tends to happen, the leaf might
wither away leaving behind a tuber, but you don't know
that.  so you re-use the pot for - say - a begonia,
and months later, you have a Z.z. growing with your
begonia.
