Susan's information could be very helpful to anyone who got a plant from the auction and did not know where to send payment. On the other hand, I certainly can understand how anyone who got a plant and tried to find out how payment was expected would feel when they did not recieve any response from their request. Perhaps those who received plants by mail assumed they would receive a bill at a later date and went on with life. How would these folks know the shipping charges? Perhaps there were handling charges in addition to the actual postage, such as box and packaging costs. Sometimes humor and money do not mix very well. It was implied that these people were shirkers of their agreement and just maybe the responsibility for such lack of communication goes both ways. Perhaps an invoice in the box with the plants would work more efficiently with the collection of monies in the future. Of course, the invoice would need to include plant price, postage, and any other incidental packaging costs involved. If that was difficult to do because knowing the postage before the fact can be difficult, then an invoice sent when the postage is known after shipment would do the job.

That said, those who take it on to mail out some of these auction plants deserve much gratitude. Some of these plants are huge and heavy and having shipped a plant or two in my life, I can tell you it is not an easy task to find or obtain a box to ship out such purchases and then to pack them in a manner to get them to destination in good shape. So while we are at it, let's give a big thanks to those unknown  individuals who take on this task. They deserve to be thanked for all they do because they do a huge favor so that those not at the auction have an opportunity to obtain rare and unusual stuff offered only at the auction.
