Re: Dieffenbachia ID from Ecuador

Dear Beth:

I have two species listed from that area that may be this one.  One I am calling D. tarabitensis Croat and the other D. holm-nielsenii Croat.  At the moment I don’t know which it best fits since they may differ mostly in herbarium specimen characters.

Subject: [Aroid-l] Dieffenbachia ID from Ecuador

Hi all,

Quick question - does anybody out there recognize this Dieffenbachia? I was given a cutting from somebody's garden plant; they said it was collected near Mera in Pastaza. I've been to those woods and I haven't seen anything even remotely like this one. What's throwing me, I think, is that the leaves are all but solid and the petioles are variegated.

Thanks!

Beth
