It's not synonymous. The genus Sauromatum with 1 or 2 species has been moved in 2000 to Typhonium counting about 80 species.

Sauromatum venosum.  I dont think there are any other species in Sauromatum, are there? (Sauromatum is now synonimous with Typhonium)
