B.t. var. israeliensis

In response to queries concerning B.t.......

Bacillus thuringiensis var. israeliensis has been approved for use on 
mosquito larvae.  B.t. used to be used only on lepidoptera larvae, but 
several varieties have been introduced over the last decade that are 
effective against the larvae of other insects.  B.t. var. israeliensis 
is usually available from 'organic' pest control catalogs in the form of 
little floating 'doughnuts.'  These are easy to break apart for use in 
smaller containers than the fish pools for which they were intended.

It sounds great in theory and is somewhat effective, but gambusia (fish) 
are much more effective and fun to watch.  Nothing is cheaper than a 
guppy.  Now back to aroids.....
