A.titanum Update Wed.Evening

The titanum is indeed opening. As of 6:30-7:00p.m.EDT this evening it
was about half open.The spathe had started to turn downward as in the
photo on the Aroideana cover(Vol.17).By Thurs.morning the process will
probably be complete. Today the carrion odor was present but not so
overwhelming that it was keeping anyone from approaching the plant. The
security guard ,who stayed close to the inflorescence all day,wore his
gas mask some of the time.
The most remarkable thing about the A. titanum is it's beauty now that
the dark red on the inner surface of the spathe is exposed. I wish all
of you could see it in person.
