Good morning!
See the attached paper. It is the most recent revision of Monstera, and while I would not be surprised if Tom were working on a new revision, I have heard nothing (Tom? I look forward to your input here . . . )
In Madison's revision, the nomina Monstera borsigiana Engler, 1879 and M. delicosa vars borsigiana are junior synonyms of M. deliciosa Liebmann, 1849 on page 94. The impression from this paper is that they are the exact same plants and the name "delciosa" has priority. Thus, whatever variation may have been observed was superficial and not consistent.
I am sure Tom will have much more to share. I hope this helped.
Happy days,
Christopher

_______________________________________________Hi, I have a rookie question about Monsteras. Several of us have been arguing about the names of plants.I am hoping someone with actual scientific knowledge can settle this argument.Apparently, the only scientifically ACCEPTED name for the plant Monstera deliciosa is...Monstera deliciosa. And there are several synonyms, including Monstera borsigiana and Monstera deliciosa var. borsigiana. But several people I am arguing with believe that Monstera borsigiana is actually a different plant from Monstera deliciosa, not that they are the same plant with synonymous names. They also apply these names to the variegated forms. It is my contention that there are only THREE forms of Monstera deliciosa: the plain green form of that name, the green and white albo-variegated form, and the yellow and green variegated aurea-variegated form. And that 'Thai Constellation' is just a name stuck on to sell more plants. It has been whispered that possibly Dr. Thomas Croat is writing/has written a scientific revision of the genus of Monstera, but that it has not been published.I am hoping someone can address my question.
