Hello Michael,
I think they are two different species
Philodendron andreanum Devansaye 1886
Philodendron melanochrysum Linden & Andre 1873
Btw: Philo melanochrysum is sometimes named Ph. hederaceum var. micans, Ph. micans or Ph. scandens var. micans
Ph scandens and Ph. hederaceum are synonyms
There's a big mess around these plants
Marek

Just browsed the Philo list on our site , P. elongatum is listed ..
BUT , my question is ... P andreanum and P. melanochrysum are they one and the same plant ?
Both names are listed on the list , the picture of
P. melanochrysum looks to be a young P.andreanum...
I know how long it takes to get a mature leaf on this sp. a looooong time
so maybe this is why immature plants could have been given another name .
This plant cannot be the same as the one with the enormous leaves , so lets call it something else .
Michael Pascall,
