Apologies for cross postings.
Whereas, the City of Saint Paul is home to nearly 50 community gardens; and
Whereas, Community gardens beautify our neighborhoods, strengthen block clubs, enhance community crime prevention efforts; and
Whereas, Community gardens provide opportunities for cross-cultural and inter-generational learning; and
Whereas, Community gardens exist in every ward of the City of Saint Paul, crisscrossing our City from the Totem Town Community garden in Battle Creek to the Saint Anthony Park Community Garden or from the Highland Park Perennial Garden to the Hmong Community Garden on the East Side; and
Whereas, The Parade of Community Gardens will occur in the Twin Cities Metro area on August 19, 2006, giving neighbors a better chance to know about community gardening;
Therefore Be It Resolved by The City of Saint Paul:
Commend the hundreds of Saint Paul residents who participate in community gardens for their valuable contributions to Our City; and
Be It Further Resolved that August 19, 2006 shall be declared as Community Gardening Day in the City of Saint Paul.
