Community dedicates Sheila Wellstone Peace Garden

Camden Community News, Minneapolis

The Sheila Wellstone Peace Garden dedication on
October 24 at the Cityview School community garden
drew lots of kids and families and raised awareness
about violence prevention (especially domestic
violence) and community gardening. Everyone enjoyed
the Fall Festival food, entertainment and speakers,
and neighborhood kids got a kick out of the pumpkin
weighing contest. The Peace Garden is as a community
garden and will be a living, growing testament to
Sheilas work against violence, especially domestic
violence, so her memory and voice will continue to be
heard as an advocate for the people. The event brought
together the McKinley neighborhood, Cityview School,
Wellstone Action Committee and Sheila Wellstone
Institute to address issues of violence and peace.
