Julie,
There is currently a huge quantitative Community Garden study being done
under the aegis of the St. Louis Gateway Greening people ( the "Whitmire
Study" http://stlouis.missouri.org/gatewaygreening/WhitmireStudy.htm ) you
may also want to contact the ACGA's great friend, Gwenne Hayes-Stewart,
Director of St Louis Gateway at (314) 577-9484.
Good luck with your research and for Karmic reasons, please make sure that
your ACGA membership is paid up soon ( $25 bucks - the price of a pizza or
some chinese take out with a six pack & you help to support community
gardening all over North America - a good deal)

Please let us know how your beacon of community garden scholarship pans out.
Best wishes,
Adam Honigman

I am also looking for studies that have examined the
impacts of gardens on their neighborhoods - beyond
what I've found on the ACGA and CityFarmer websites.
Does anyone know of any local studies that haven't
been widely published?
I will be working on a research project in
Minneapolis/St.Paul to study peoples' perceptions of
the values of community gardens to neighborhoods -
from both gardener and non-gardener perspectives.
Thanks for any suggestions --
Julie Filapek
