Its very moving to hear the breadth, understanding, and concern with the connections between the issues of community gardening and the rest of life. Its also great to hear the reports and experiences of demonstrations you all took part in over the weekend.
In Chicago the demonstration was held in the northside afghanistani neighborhood because it is a neighborhood harassed, forced to "register." Groups there requested the demonstration be held there in support of communities under siege in this "war on terrorism." Neighborhood demonstrations are always the most integrated ethnically and racially, always the warmest, with people in shops coming out to support and laugh, in second floors - waving. It is so good!
Did people note the press conference by the Japanese community, warning against the horror of internment camps? This has been, by far, and continues becoming, the most inclusive, active, international movement in the history of the world. WOW!
