RE: FYI [UNITED PLANT SAVERS WEB SITE - 01/04/2001]
Joining Untied Plant Savers is a good thing for Urban commuity gardeners who
have little access to endangerered species to preserve in their local
gardens. The Clinton Community Garden has planted a few plants from these
folks and as far as we're concerned it's win-win:
1) We get interesting, easy to grow plantings for litttle of no cost in our
2) We can tell visiting dignitaries ( electeds, appointeds, folks who make
land use policy) that in addition to all we're doing with and for the
neighborhood, we're also preserving endangered plant species.
Working with groups like this is like having your cake and eating it too.
However, research the plants first for approriateness, looks, tendencies to
take over, synergies with your current plantings.
