The NonProfit Connection is offering a very thorough fundraising training for community group members and nonprofit staff. Unfortunatly it's during the day but it's FREE (foundation center charges quite a bit for comparable trainings). The info from their website is pasted below and you can click the link to register.

Hands – On Proposal Writing Institute
Designed for nonprofit managers, program staff and volunteers.
This four day institute will guide participants through the steps involved in preparing a grant proposal that reflects their organization’s
needs as well as the funder’s interests. This course is structured around the segments of the New York Common Application Form,
by the end, participants will have built a proposal from scratch.
The course will not teach writing, in order to benefit optimally, participants need good writing skills and knowledge of
program development. Homework will be assigned at each of the four sessions with an opportunity for peer review/critique.
1. Developing an Effective Fundraising Strategy, Evaluating Your Organization’s Capabilities

2. Narrative: Background, History, Mission and Needs Statement
Friday, April 16, 2004 Time: 9:30-4:30
3. Narrative: Funding Request, Program Description
Friday, April 23, 2004 Time: 9:30-4:30
4. Narrative: Evaluation, Budget, Proposal Summary and Attachments
Friday, April 30, 2004 Time: 9:30-4:30
During the two week period after the final session, the presenters will provide assistance
in finalizing the proposal, including proposal critique.
