For Hayward Community Gardens in Hayward, California
Rent-- land is owned by City, leased to electric company (PG&E), and we are
allowed to use it for free
Personnel-- almost all labor is volunteer, from garden and community members
Of a total annual budget of around $50K, mostly used for utilities and
supplies:
Community Development Block Grant (HUD, granted by City): 50%
Membership Fees: 20%
Farmer's Market Sales: 10%
Private Foundation: 20%
I'm not sure what the trend in funding is, but we are trying to figure out
how to support one paid staff person.
