RE: Youth gardening curriculum

The reason I am looking for an organic curriculum for youth, especially
older youth, is that we may have a University of Utah class that may
consider writing some curriculum for us. I know that there is a good Jr.
Master Gardener Program that has come out of Texas. Also, Down to Earth is
another. However, when I did a quick web search for organic methods
curriculum, I found nothing. If I find nothing of substance, and this class
pursues this project, I will let anybody who is interested know what we have
come up with.

I would call them and discuss it. I don't have a copy at my desk. Good luck.
If you can get them to send you a sample copy I would be interested in your
reaction.
Thanks!

Does it at least have organic alternatives in the literature?

The California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers (800-748-6214)
has a good curriculum for middle school called Investigations in
Horticulture, but it is not strictly organic.

Does anybody know of a youth gardening curriculum (geared to Jr. High and
High School) that focuses on Organic method, similar to Jr. Master Gardener,
but just the organic side. I am looking for something with about 8 sections
for 8 different classes, soil preparation, fertilizing, pest management,
cover crop etc.

Anything out there like this?
