Farm Bill and Farmers Market

Title: Farm Bill and Farmers Market

This morning there was a story on Morning Edition, NPR about Bush's proposed cut of the Farmers Market Nutrition program that allows WIC  (Women, Infants and Children) coupons to be used at Farmers Markets.  In the current bill before the senate, this program is not included.  ( http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnpd01fm.cfm?PrgDate=03/19/2002&PrgID=3 )

(Link to story)

I encourage you to write your senator and plea with them to find the money to continue funding (1/10 of 1% of the bill)this program that supports farmers, market gardeners and increases the nutritional value of the diets of vulnerable populations.
