In NYC:
The Municipal Art Society presents the premiere of RATS TO ROSES - a
half-hour documentary film that celebrates
New York City's community gardens and the dedicated volunteers who keep
them flourishing.
New York City's gardens have provided a haven, a sanctuary, and a
community center without walls to thousands of New Yorkers, particularly
low-income people of color. Currently, city government is threatening to
bulldoze more than half of the 800 community gardens in the five boroughs.
RATS TO ROSES documents the journey to establish and preserve several city
gardens and to galvanize support for these precious and endangered
community treasures.
Join us for a premiere screening, followed by a discussion with the film
maker and community garden activists from around the city.
Wednesday, May 22
6:00 p.m.
The Municipal Art Society
457 Madison Avenue at 51st Street.
Best wishes,
Adam Honigman
