COORDINATOR OF COMMUNITY GARDENS Job Announcement

This is to alert you to the fact that the USDA position of "Coordinator of
Community Gardens" has just opened today (Monday, November 13).   The
beginning of the announcement for this position is below the dotted line

community gardening efforts within the USDA, in other Federal agencies, and
with a variety of non-Federal state agencies and groups.   The Coordinator
will also provide a variety of information and technical assistance in support

DUTIES:
The incumbent of this position serves as the Coordinator of the USDA Community
Gardens Initiative.  The goal of the Gardens Initiative is to build
public/private partnerships to significantly increase the number of and to
expand the size of existing community and school gardens. In this capacity,
coordinates the efforts of the U. S. National Arboretum and various USDA
agencies, other Federal agencies, national nonprofit groups, and the private
sector in the design and implementation of a national gardening action plan.
Additionally, the incumbent oversees and coordinates the work of the USDA
State Community Gardening Coordinators in each of the states and territories
and provides the State Coordinators guidance, advice, direction, technical
assistance, and policy clarification.
