Uses for round tomato cages

Regarding Jon Rowley's question about creative uses for tomato
cages, I like to use them in the winter to encircle newly planted
small trees or shrubs. The cages make it easier to encircle the
cages with burlap prevent winter burn on evergreens or with chicken
wire (or poultry wire) to deter chewing rodents or deer. In the
Spring, one can either remove and reuse the cages in the garden or
keep just the cages in place for future use. In addition, the cages
add support for new trees.
